Member of Technical Staff - Data Engineer
About The Position
Vinci4D is building a next-generation AI enabled assistant for hardware designers - one that doesn't just understand design, but helps improve it. Our system blends machine learning, 3D geometry, simulation, and constraint reasoning to guide engineers through meaningful design exploration We are building foundation models for geometry and physics. Our first model is shipped and we are expanding our capabilities! We are backed by Khosla Ventures and Eclipse Ventures Role Overview We are looking for a Data Engineer who can help us build systems that are scalable and are adept at working with application data. This role is about helping us build out our systems so they can grow with our models, applications and feature suite. In this role you become an expert in our data schemas, data transforms, and pipelines that provide pathways to new features and allow our customers to efficiently use our application. Location & Work Authorization This role is based in our Palo Alto office. We gather in-person several days a week to maintain our high-velocity culture. Candidates must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship (H-1B, etc.) for this position.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with some of this time working in systems that facilitate ML models
- Experience with data transformation and optimization techniques for scaling applications and ML systems
- Experience designing relational schemas that support highly nested complex data (bonus for specific experience with high-resolution 3D geometry or simulation metadata)
- Worked in Python to transform data into pipelines using Postgres, Alembic, and SQLAlchemy
- Strong grasp of SQL and comfortable with optimizing SQL for production
- Knowledge of orchestrators like Airflow, Dagster, and Temporal
- Comfortable working in startup environment with an understanding of dataflows across the stack
