About The Position

MEMX is searching for a Network Engineer to support the design, implementation and maintenance of its low latency trading infrastructure for second shift 4 PM - 12 AM ET weekdays Monday through Friday. Shift time for this role will be: 4 PM - 12 AM ET MEMX currently has a U.S. presence in these states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, & Utah. Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with low latency, highly available distributed systems and the network architectures needed to run them
  • Understanding of layer2 and layer3 network protocols e.g. IGMP, MLAG, ARP, BGP, NAT, PIM
  • Understanding of IP multicast routing e.g. PIM-SM, PIM-Bidir
  • Experience with network operating systems (EOS, IOS, PanOS)
  • Understanding of timing protocols NTP,PTP
  • Understanding of various optical fiber types and transceivers
  • Scripting experience (Python, Ansible) preferred
  • Ability to analyze packet captures using tools like Wirshark, tcpdump
  • Mac, Linux familiarity preferred
  • Experience with firewall design and configuration

Responsibilities

  • Work to design, implement and support the low latency exchange network environment
  • Configure the enterprise and production network devices with Ansible and Python as required
  • Respond to network alerts and error logs
  • Respond to network incidents, remediate, and perform RCA
  • Perform new customer connection turn-ups
  • Work on customer tickets such as add/mod IP prefixes, troubleshoot connectivity
  • Perform new product analysis and validation
  • Coordinate with the Security and business teams to help engineer/implement secure end user solutions
  • Work with Data Center and Circuit providers to continually move the exchange infrastructure forward on more cost efficient and performant options
