About The Position

The Member Maintenance & Payroll Analyst plays a crucial role in the Retirement Systems Division of the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer. This full-time position is responsible for maintaining beneficiary information for active and retired members, managing payroll processes, and ensuring effective communication with members regarding their accounts. The analyst will handle complex inquiries and assist in payroll operations for over 350,000 retirees, contributing to the overall efficiency and service quality of the division.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to maintenance of member information, beneficiaries, and payroll.
  • Experience reading and interpreting policies, procedures and law.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software to maintain member information.
  • Experience communicating payroll and account maintenance information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand payroll and account maintenance issues and choose the appropriate course of action.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile payroll data, review payroll reports and determine if tax reporting reconciles with payroll reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft formal, detailed correspondence related to member and payroll information.
  • Experience responding to email inquiries in a clear and concise manner.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming member maintenance workflow items.
  • Manage emailed requests from employers to update member data.
  • Cross train on monthly payroll for more than 350,000 retirees and run weekly supplemental payroll.
  • Learn payroll process for direct deposit, tax forms and change of address for members.
  • Prepare letters for members related to member maintenance and payroll issues.
  • Manage and update spreadsheets associated with payroll items.
  • Assist the Payroll Supervisor as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
