About The Position

As a Member Debt Specialist at USAA, you will play a crucial role in understanding and addressing the financial needs of military members and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver personalized solutions and education to improve members' financial security while managing delinquent accounts in accordance with operational standards. This position requires effective communication with members and external parties to collect payments and resolve issues, all while adhering to legal and company guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
• 1 year of combined customer contact, sales, or collections experience in the financial services industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct member research and resolve non-complex delinquency work assignments using established procedures.
• Make outbound phone calls to delinquent members across all USAA product lines to collect payments or arrange for payment plans.
• Perform individual member needs assessments to determine reasons for delinquency and provide customized solutions.
• Negotiate payment arrangements within defined guidelines under close supervision.
• Document customer contact information and update collection attempts in the appropriate database.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and escalate as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national laws regarding the collection industry.
