About The Position

Greater Iowa Credit Union is looking for a Member Advisor for our Southgate Branch. This role involves providing an exceptional member experience to GICU members. The primary responsibilities include assisting members with financial needs and promoting credit union products and services and identifying opportunities to meet members' financial goals. The Member Advisor serves as a trusted financial resource helping members make informed decisions and achieve financial well-being. The Member Advisor is responsible for evaluating applicants and providing credit union members with information on deposit and lending products and services to best fit their needs. They are also responsible for assisting members with teller transactions as needed. The Member Advisor is responsible for following all processes and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations and utilizing ethical consultative sales in interactions with members to achieve personal, branch and credit union goals. Location: 1700 SE Delaware Avenue Hours of Operation: Monday- Thursday 8:30am- 5pm Friday 8:30am-5:30pm and rotating Saturdays 9am-12pm

Requirements

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of, building relationships, and achieving member and credit union goals.

  • Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
  • Strong written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
  • High level of service orientation.
  • Working knowledge of lending and depository regulations.
  • Ability to present information with diplomacy and tact.
  • Display interpersonal, networking, and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations from a credit report.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift, move, or transfer items, materials, or product up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Grow member relationships by creating positive member experiences that maintain and deepen financial relationships.
  • Talk to members about their financial goals and offer relevant solutions.
  • Maintain product knowledge base and answer members' questions, conduct financial transactions and resolves member challenges.
  • Assist members with understanding and using digital banking tools such as GICU apps; online banking; remote deposit tools and chat/secure messaging.
  • Assist members in understanding loan options and advise on the best product to meet their needs.
  • Gather necessary data and documentation to complete loan application.
  • Evaluate application and determine creditworthiness of the applicant.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and follow GICU established loan procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional products and/or services that meet current or future financial goals of members.
  • Greet and welcome members in a professional manner.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in person, by phone, via email or written correspondence.
  • Complete all member follow-up in accordance with member service standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
