About The Position

The Melter position involves operating an induction furnace to melt various metals and alloys to meet specific temperature, chemistry, and customer specifications. The role requires loading the furnace with appropriate charge materials such as scrap, pigs, alloys, and additions. Additionally, the Melter will check temperatures using a pyrometer, pour chemistry samples, and take carbon and sulfur pins. The position also includes operating specific lab instrumentation to verify proper chemical compositions, repairing and maintaining ladles for pouring, and ensuring furnaces are in good working condition for melting. The Melter is responsible for pouring metal and maintaining carts for molds, as well as keeping accurate records of heats poured and materials used.

Responsibilities

• Operate induction furnace to melt various metals and alloys.
• Load furnace with appropriate charge materials (scrap, pigs, alloys, and additions).
