Basic Job Functions:This position is responsible for carrying liquid steel to and from the Caster, assisting with Refractory and Caster personnel during size changes and maintenance days, working with Ladlewall personnel with all ladle movements, all Bloomyard crane operator responsibilities, assist all Shift Supervisors, OHC operators, Ladle Carrier and LMF Operators to maintain proper records of heat numbers through the shop. The OHC Operator will be expected make timely and accurate decisions under pressure and to adhere to all requirements for protective equipment for those areas. The Operator may be required to fill in any of the OHC positions at any time (OHC #2, #1, #36, #23, #5, #6, #3, #24 and #101) and be involved in (when covering) all EAF down-days (clean-up & shell changes) & involved in the operation and maintenance activities of the EAF (this includes the flux systems). The OHC Operator will work in extreme weather conditions, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

Must have operated at least a 25 ton rail mounted cab overhead crane

Responsibilities

Carrying liquid steel to and from the Caster
