About The Position

Join us as we empower the future in the role of Manufacturing Associate in the Melt Shop. This position involves working with your hands, operating heavy mobile equipment, and performing a variety of manual tasks in a team environment. You will be responsible for supporting the melting process by supplying raw materials and assisting with various duties around the furnace area.

Requirements

• Desire to learn new roles and grow with the company.
• Completed High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Industrial or manufacturing experience, including operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Flexibility to work a rotating 12 hr shift, days, nights, and weekends.
• Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged sitting, standing or walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in cramped quarters, heights, and extreme temperature conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of supplementary duties within the melt shop and other plant areas.
• Receive guidance and specific instructions from the Melt Shift Supervisor and furnace crews.
• Perform repetitive work around the furnace area to supply raw materials for the melting process.
• Cut unprepared scrap in the yard with a cutting torch for the electric furnace.
• Become certified on Billet Yard Crane through on-the-job training.
• Safely operate overhead Billet Crane to warehouse billets between the casting and rolling process.
• Function as a Caster Cutting Attendant as needed.
• Clean machinery and other equipment or apparatus, assist maintenance personnel.
• Perform material handling duties by unloading trucks transporting supplies and parts.
• Use hand tools and equipment to perform daily tasks and get up stock for the furnace.
• Assist with hanging electrodes, taking temperatures and samples at the furnace.
