About The Position

The role of the Melt/Cast Metallurgist is an integral part of the Melt Shop and Caster team responsible for working with our teammates to create solutions in the areas of safety, profitability, and teammate development. This position is actively involved in the decision making of the process and product quality, strives for continuous improvement and supports the production team. As a technical resource, this individual will be directly involved with developing the specific training and communications required to expand the knowledge of our team, our partners and customers. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

• BS degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or Equivalent.
• Minimum 4 Years of thin slab caster related experience.

Nice To Haves

• Technical aptitude with the ability to gather, analyze and make data-driven decisions (SQL, Python, Power-BI, IBA, etc.).
• Demonstrates interest in the business and is focused on reducing costs, improving quality and/or improving efficiencies.
• Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in applicable field.
