Marion County Public Works is seeking a Medium Equipment Operator to add to our Road & Bridge Operations Division, supporting the Salem Maintenance District. The Medium Equipment Operator position will join a collaborative team taking part in the necessary tasks for the operation and maintenance of roadway features within the Marion County community including pavement/drainage, bridges/guardrails, signs/pavement markings, roadside vegetation, litter control, and snow & ice response. This position requires a commercial driver's license (CDL-A) with airbrake and tanker endorsements, within six months of hire upon the successful completion of training. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Responsible for the operation of medium road maintenance equipment. Performs moderately complex equipment operation duties for road, bridge, vegetation, sign making, drainage conveyance, ferry maintenance; nuisance control, environmental site, landfill, and transfer station maintenance control and/or construction. Operates all equipment and performs all tasks of lower level classification within this job series. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the direct supervision of a supervisor or other lead worker position, which assigns work, observes performance, and inspects work upon completion for conformance to road maintenance standards. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions within this classification but duties may include exercising lead direction over a small work crew. This position is primarily assigned to the Salem/Vegetation Crew and may report to other workgroups with alternative work locations and work schedules. May operate all equipment listed in the Equipment Operators Classification table.
