Sign on Bonus of $750.00 for positions scheduled 41-80 hours per pay period! Saint Therese - IHM Senior Living is looking for experienced Medication Technicians to join our dedicated team in Monroe, Michigan! We provide a home for seniors who want to live in a place that has the full continuum of care - meaning residents can move into independent living and then as their care needs evolve, they can move to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or stay in our short- term rehab center. We are a five-star facility licensed by Medicare and Medicaid and staffed by people who have the experience and passion to provide exceptional care. Positions available in assisted living and memory care include working every other holiday: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. (Part-time - 72 hours per two-week pay period) Six 12 hour shifts per two-weeks

Requirements

  • Successful completion of training as a Medication Technician is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medication Technician is required if candidate has not completed training.
  • Previous experience as a CENA or Nurse Aide is also required.
  • Resident centered thinking, with awareness & sensitivity to resident needs, interests, & abilities
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of position, including lifting over 50 lbs. while transferring a resident.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and related software
  • Ability to work with little supervision and make appropriate judgments.
  • Dependability, with the ability to follow direction.
  • Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing oral capsules, pills, elixirs and perhaps subcutaneous insulin to residents
  • Administering prescribed medications to patients and maintain related medical records under immediate supervision.
  • Assist residents in taking the medication; and assess for any side effects or drug reactions.
  • Taking vital signs and/or observe patient to detect response to medication.
  • Documenting when a PRN medication is given and why. If the PRN medication was not effective, document and what intervention was given.
  • Provide assistance and respond to call lights, phone and in-person request for information as needed.
  • Display a positive attitude and respect for all residents, families, and staff.
