Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active Medication Aide certification in the State of North Carolina, listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry (completion of a state-approved training program and competency evaluation required).
- Active Nurse Aide I (NA I) certification, listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, assist with resident mobility, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration and documentation.
- Effective communication skills in English — reading, writing, and verbal comprehension.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medication administration or Med Tech role preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications via approved routes (oral, topical, instillation) according to facility protocols and state scope
- Apply the “Six Rights” of medication administration: right patient, right drug, right dose, right time, right route, right documentation
- Monitor residents for side effects or reactions and report concerns to supervisor
- Document medication administration and resident responses per facility and regulatory guidelines
- Assist with vital signs and basic assessments when permitted by facility policy
- Provide personal care support (bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, toileting) as needed
- Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing leadership
- Follow all infection control, safety, and facility protocols
- Participate in trainings, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality, respect, and professionalism with residents, families, and staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned
