About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our Assisted Living team. In this vital role, you'll assist residents with medications and ensure accuracy and safety in all medication systems under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) Delegator. As a Med Tech, you'll work closely with nurses, CNAs, and other team members to support our residents' health and well-being, delivering exceptional care with professionalism, empathy, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Active WA State Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) with minimum six months work experience. Active status on OBRA Registry.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of Nurse Delegation Core Training.
  • Successful completion of Nurse Delegation with a Focus on Diabetes Management.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Proficient with using computers and software.
  • EMR experience required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid (Certification due within 30 days from date of hire).
  • Food Handlers permit (Due within 14 days from date of hire).
  • Completion of DSHS Dementia and Mental Health training as required by WA State regulations (Required to complete these two training sessions within 90 days from your date of hire if you have not completed this requirement previously or cannot locate a copy of your training certifications).
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Remarkable communication skills include timely and appropriate contact with prescribers, pharmacists, families, residents, and other members of the care team.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately manage and administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, policies, and regulations.
  • Document medication administration, effectiveness, and any side effects per established procedures.
  • Protect residents' rights and ensure confidentiality during all aspects of medication delivery.
  • Transcribe new or changed orders into the electronic health record MAR within scope of practice.
  • Maintain secure storage and accountability for all medications, including controlled substances.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of any change in condition to nursing staff.
  • Communicate effectively with other licensed staff, physicians, other disciplines, families, and administrative staff regarding resident status, medication refusals, and/or changes in resident condition.
  • Order all new and renewal medications, including those needed for treatment(s).
  • Upon discharge or expiration of resident, ensure all scheduled and controlled substances, open liquids, and injectables are collected and disposed of as prescribed by law.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, especially as it relates to medication rooms and carts.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and emergency procedures, including proper PPE use and participation in drills.
  • Assist with information gathering and documentation for incidents.
  • Follow all infection control policies and procedures.
  • Perform CNA job duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
