About The Position

The Medication History Technician (MHT) at Singing River Health System is responsible for accurately obtaining, documenting, and verifying a patient’s medication history upon admission, transfer, or discharge. This role involves working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure medication accuracy and reduce adverse drug events. All duties must be performed in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician Registration from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must possess or complete ASHP Medication History-Taking Certification within 90 days of hire/assignment.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
