Overview The Medication Coordinator will be responsible for accepting calls from patients and or pharmacies with medication requests or questions. This person will work in conjunction with the providers to get approvals or denials on any medication requests and process prior authorization requests. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiar with medication names and dosages to answer medication-related questions. Medical terminology and abbreviations Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Must be able to have substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Maintain knowledge of basic administrative skills including PC experience using software such as Excel, Word, etc. Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery. Must frequently communicate with patients and outside facilities. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, postage machines, printers, office machinery, etc. Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone. Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service. Ability to exercise good judgment to handle calls appropriately. Ability to type at a rate of 45 wpm Responsibilities Answer calls promptly, professionally, and courteously, providing exceptional customer service to all patients, pharmacies, and staff. Listen to any voicemails, call back the patient within 4 hours for “urgent” and 1 business day for non-urgent medication request Create encounters for phone calls/ voicemails. Monitor eClinical works “E” jelly bean and “T” jelly bean, for medication refill requests Work with providers to address any requests that are being directed to the medication coordinator. Submit prior authorizations. Run Cures reports as requested by providers Provide general administrative support as a backup. Able to travel to all CVMG locations as needed Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
