The Medication Assistant is responsible for administering medications and treatments in assigned area. Maintains accurate records of medication and treatments given.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• CPR certified, Food handlers’ certificate.
• CNA/HCA certified.
• One (1) year experience in a long-term facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medication carts for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies.
• Notify the attending physician of automatic stop orders prior to the last dosage being administered.
• Observe and notify nurse of any negative drug effects or interactions.
