Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary: The Medication Assistance Coordinator serves as the hub for prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance program, foundation programs, and additional programs allowing patients to access medications associated with key service lines within the medical center as well as health system clinics. This position is responsible for providing front line, direct contact with patients, families, providers, nurses, social workers and pharmacies. The Medication Assistance Coordinator performs all the essential functions of the Senior Pharmacy Technician.

Requirements

• High School Diploma General or GED General or Associates Other is Preferred
• CPHT - Cert Pharmacy Tech or CPHT-ADV - Advanced Cert Pharmacy Tech
• PHT - Registered Pharmacy Tech
• Minimum 2 years as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
• Required Minimum 3 years in medication assistance or similar role in a physician's office, medical center, or pharmacy
• Experience with prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance programs, and foundation programs High
• Experience with insurance, claim adjudication, and claim appeals High
• Strong communication, organization, time management, integrity High
• Familiar with medical terminology Medium

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Epic Willow Ambulatory and Pioneer Medium

Responsibilities

• Screens, processes and completes prior authorization, patient assistance, co-pay assistance, foundation assistance and other medication programs
• Follows up with patients & providers on refill and reauthorizations as required by payers or assistance programs
• Processes prescriptions through IT platforms in an accurate manner
• Coordinates shipping and delivery activities associated with common carrier and courier services to assure accurate and timely medication delivery
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
