About The Position

The Senior Medication Assistance Coordinator assists patients and/or families access a variety of financial resources for medications by evaluating the financial situation of uninsured or under-insured patients in accordance with regulatory compliance while maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity; determines eligibility for medication assistance or any available assistance source. The Sr MAC liaisons with Patient Financial Services and the Clinical Team to maximize the organizations ability to reduce unnecessary financial losses associated with high cost medications and acts as an advocate for the patient in resolving medication payment/coverage issues.

Requirements

• Associates degree or higher in health sciences, public health or similar degree.
• Completion of a medical terminology course or proficiency.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in retail or specialty pharmacy, healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payor, Medicaid case work or billing experience.
