About The Position

The Medication Aide administers daily medication to patients/residents in skilled nursing. This role involves delivering routine daily medications, coordinating with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications, following written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications, and recording medication dosages and times. The aide observes patients and documents changes in their condition, gathers samples for analysis, and ensures equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned. They are responsible for upholding all health and safety standards and responding to patient emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify patient needs. Additionally, the Medication Aide works in the capacity of a CNA when needed, supports the organization's mission, vision, and values by becoming familiar and acting in accordance with company policies and procedures, and promotes exceptional customer service by participation in Salemtowne Shines & fulfilling the commitments & values of the program. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medication principles and practices.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to requests and needs of residents and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to maintain a safety-first mindset.
  • Adept at following directions, care plans, etc.
  • Strong ability to successfully multi-task with a friendly demeanor to exhume superior customer service.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to anticipate a need and take initiative.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive materials and communications.
  • Motivated and self-directed to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or relevant qualification.
  • Must be a certified medication aide.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medication aide.
