About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for safely administering prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CMA also assists with monitoring residents’ conditions, documenting care, and providing support with daily living activities while ensuring compliance with facility policies and state regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide training program.
  • Current CMA certification and in good standing with the state registry.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist residents with mobility.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
  • Must pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screening as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Accurately document medication administration in the electronic health record (EHR) or medication administration record (MAR).
  • Observe residents for any adverse reactions to medications and promptly report changes to the nurse on duty.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Maintain proper storage, handling, and accountability of medications.
  • Provide emotional support and establish positive relationships with residents and their families.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
  • Assist nursing staff with other duties as assigned to ensure quality resident care.
