The Medication Administration Program (MAP) Coordinator at the Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a full-time role for a Registered Nurse responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of medication-related quality assurance standards across the state. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, technical assistance to providers, and compliance oversight to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medication administration in DCF programs.

  • Assist providers with the establishment of medication-related quality assurance standards.
  • Provide site/program/provider-specific technical assistance utilizing data from the Department of Public Health (DPH) Clinical Review, DCF MAP Technical Assistance Tool, MOR, and DIR forms.
  • Perform annual and PRN Technical Assistance visits at all MAP registered sites statewide.
  • Clarify and provide guidance around MAP policies and regulations and ensure site/provider compliance.
  • Assist the Director of MAP with oversight of the Medication Occurrence Report (MOR) system and identify patterns indicating the need for technical assistance or corrective action.
  • Collaborate with DCF Network Service team, EEC, Regional Nurses, DCF Area Offices, and DPH inspectors and clinical reviewers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of DPH MAP Policy Manual and Responsibilities in Action Curriculum.
  • Represent DCF in meetings with provider agencies around MAP-related issues.
  • Participate in statewide 'Train the Trainer' program.
  • Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • At least three years of full-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility, with at least two years in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
  • Experience in medication-related quality assurance standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with DCF community systems.
  • Knowledge of medication-related DCF and DPH regulations and policies.
  • Understanding of the types and characteristics of drugs used in diagnosing, treating, and controlling physical, mental, and/or emotional disorders.
  • Aptitude to engage in teaching and the ability to plan and present trainings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong technology skills and experience working with electronic medical records.
