Under the supervision of the Director of Graduate Medical Education, Manager of Physician Residents and Manager of Reimbursement, the Medicare Specialist is responsible for the execution of activities related to the review and reporting of the clinical time spent at Yale-New Haven Hospital for over 1,400 physicians. Requirements

  • High school graduate, Associate Degree in Accounting desirable.
  • Four (4) or more years working in an Internal Audit department or professional office. Extensive knowledge of Medicare reimbursement and residency training programs.
  • Excellent skills in statistical typing, communication, and organization required. Must be able to identify, locate, and assemble data from diverse sources. Must have a working knowledge of residency training programs, Medicare requirements, INS requirements, and Lawson. Two (2) to three (3) years computer experience in Excel, Word, and Access is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complex Medicare reimbursement reporting for House Staff, Visiting Residents, and Subspeciality Resident (fellows) in 200 departments of YNHH and YSOM, as well as affiliated hospitals and other outside institutions.
  • Works in conjunction with the Physician Residents Manager on preparing lists/reports, PIP distribution, assisting in the paying of over 1200 employees, and appointment and re-appoint of physicians to the House Staff Office.
  • Responsible for credentialing of all rotating residents form affiliated and non-affiliated Hospitals including all trainees from Waterbury Hospital.
  • Responsible for creating the interface for all programs who utilize outside scheduling platforms to ensure all block schedules are accurate at all times through the academic year.
  • Management and creation of all new programs to ensure accuracy of interface from MSOW to MedHub.
  • Responsible for all monthly reports such as but not limited to the 340B, Medical Board, FTE position control and resident billing.
  • Certifying Official for Veterans Benefits
