About The Position

The Medicare Biller/Collector is responsible for managing the billing and collection processes for Medicare claims at Casa Colina Hospital. This role ensures that claims are submitted timely and collected according to payer guidelines and agreements, while also interacting with insurance companies and clients to facilitate reimbursement.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively operate business office machines (e.g., 10 key calculator, typewriter).
• Knowledge of billing and collection procedures in a healthcare environment.
• Mathematical, analytical, and clerical abilities.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with third-party payers, patients, and staff.
• Capable of performing functions such as sitting for long periods, mobility, lifting, squatting, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of upper extremities.
• Five (5) years of experience in hospital billing specific to Medicare.

Responsibilities

• Perform Medicare billing and collection tasks.
• Ensure claims are timely billed and promptly collected according to payer guidelines.
• Bill clients/patients on a self-payment basis for cash rates.
• Ensure electronic billing of claims whenever possible and streamline paper claim mailing.
• Interact with insurance companies, payers, and clients to collect claim reimbursements.
