About The Position

Rocky Mountain Laboratories specializes in molecular diagnostics for infectious diseases and toxicology. We are hiring a Medical Transporter to support specimen transportation within the Las Vegas area. This is a full-time, patient-facing role that requires professionalism, punctuality, and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate brings at least one year of experience in professional driving (medical transport or delivery) and one year of experience in a patient-facing healthcare setting such as home health, clinical support, or EMS. This role involves direct interaction with healthcare staff and patients, requiring a respectful and service-oriented approach.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
  • At least 1 year of experience in delivery driving or medical transport
  • At least 1 year of experience in a patient-facing healthcare role (e.g., MA, home health aide, phlebotomist, EMT)
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and enter/exit a vehicle frequently
  • Comfort using GPS and smartphone apps for routing and communication
  • Personal liability auto insurance (required to operate a company vehicle)
  • Time zone awareness is essential, including the impact of daylight saving time, due to our multi-state operations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience transporting lab specimens or working in a clinical/laboratory setting
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, biohazard handling, or specimen tracking systems
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare context
  • Knowledge of Las Vegas roadways, including Mesquite and Pahrump

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver medical specimens from nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities while ensuring specimen integrity and timely delivery
  • Interact professionally with healthcare staff and patients during pickups, offering clear communication and courteous service
  • Serve as a frontline representative of the lab, maintaining a calm, respectful, and patient-focused approach in all interactions
  • Explain urine self-collection instructions to patients, confirm understanding, and label specimens once the patient has completed the collection. Patients perform all specimen collection themselves.
  • Communicate with dispatch and clinic staff to confirm routes, resolve issues, and provide updates as needed
  • Follow protocols for handling, labeling, storing, and transporting temperature-sensitive or biohazardous materials in compliance with HIPAA and OSHA
  • Ensure all required paperwork, chain-of-custody forms, and digital tracking logs are completed accurately
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks, keep transport equipment clean and organized, and report maintenance issues promptly
  • Assist with occasional route coverage, deliveries outside normal hours, or other operational support as needed
  • Adapt to changes in routes or priorities while maintaining focus on service and safety
  • Strictly adhere to privacy protocols when handling patient information or lab documents
  • Other duties as assigned
