About The Position

As a Medical Transcriptionist with Austin Heart, you will be part of an organization devoted to giving back to the community. The role involves providing a variety of clerical duties, including medical transcription, to physicians and other members of the clinic. You will be expected to transcribe dictated material, maintain production standards, and ensure confidentiality while adhering to all policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • One to three years' experience in a medical office setting is required.
  • Prior transcription experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review, and edit reports and correspondence.
  • Skill in operating a computer, Dictaphone, and copy machine.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to type at least 60 wpm.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribes dictated material, producing an average of at least 138 lines per hour.
  • Meets production standards and maintains an error rate of 3% or less.
  • Edits reports in the system.
  • Queues and transcribes all requests for STAT transcription as needed.
  • Charts transcribed reports once a shift.
  • Logs, prints, and maintains reports.
  • Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete tasks.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
  • Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.
