About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our hospital's medical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess a New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a valid permit issued by the NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology. ASCP certification is preferred but not required, provided the candidate holds a full New York State MLT license.

Requirements

• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology.
• Experience in chemistry and hematology.
• Knowledge of medical technology and clinical laboratory procedures.
• Ability to work with laboratory equipment and ensure accurate testing.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP certification (preferred but not required).
• Experience in blood bank, coagulation, urology, and general laboratory.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Ability to recognize and report critical results.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.
• Understand the principles of tests performed and possess working knowledge of the equipment used in the assigned station.
• Ensure that all specimens are stored appropriately.
• Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.
• Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify them, and report to the appropriate clinician.
• Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
