Person Memorial Hospital, and the Pathology and Clinical Laboratory are accredited by The Joint Commission. The Medical Technologist performs diagnostic laboratory testing on patient samples to support physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease states. This role follows standardized procedures to prepare, collect, and analyze specimens, including blood and bodily fluids, ensuring accuracy and quality in all testing performed. The Medical Technologist operates and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, performs both automated and manual testing, analyzes and documents results in accordance with organizational standards, and identifies critical values for appropriate reporting. Additional responsibilities include performing quality control and quality assurance activities, maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting with clerical laboratory functions, and supporting procedure development and documentation. The Medical Technologist works independently using sound judgment, assists with training new staff, evaluates new equipment and procedures, and performs phlebotomy as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required
  • Basic Life Support certification required
  • Active and valid Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT (licensure must reflect education requirements)
