Performs blood and body fluid testing and does cultures for diagnostic and research procedures. This is primarily, complete blood counts (CBC's), clinical chemistries, and bacterial cultures. Does work in a Biosafety Level 2 and Level 3 facility. Works with a broad range of pathogens implicated in human and animal disease, as well as emerging diseases, some of which may be select agents. Correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. Investigates problems, performs corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment, prepares reagents, instructs new employees and students, performs data entry, and interpretation of test results. Must be willing to work in both Biosafety Level 2 and Biosafety Level 3 laboratories. This includes wearing the provided personal protective equipment as well as participating in, and being compliant with, the TNPRC drug and alcohol policy. This position requires minimal weekend and holiday coverage.
