About The Position

Silver Cross Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform moderate and high complexity testing in Microbiology. This role involves instrument checks, analyzer maintenance, calibrations, quality control, competencies, proficiency testing, and patient testing. Key tasks include culture reading, identification of organisms, and setting sensitivities. The technologist will also be responsible for identifying and troubleshooting problems with test performance, maintaining a safe work environment using required PPE, and participating in the teaching of students and new employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
• Mt, MLS or MLT(ASCP) certification

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication always
• Performs moderate and high complexity testing within the department to include cultures setting and reading, Stat tests, Gram Stain and AFB stain reading and reporting, and limited molecular and immunology testing
• Performs instrument maintenance, quality control, competencies, proficiency testing, and patient testing
• Identifies problems with test performance and utilizes problem solving skills and resources to troubleshoot
• Maintains a safe work environment and uses required PPE
• Participates in the teaching of students and new employees
