  • Maintain technical competency as related to job functions.
  • Understand pertinent LIS functions and perform downtime procedures effectively.
  • Evaluate each procedure performed and choose appropriate investigative techniques.
  • Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test results and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Determine acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
  • Document unacceptable specimens according to policy.
  • Communicate specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
  • Assess job functions and take appropriate action when problems are detected.
  • Identify problems with specimens, test orders, registration and take appropriate action.
  • Handle troubleshooting professionally and communicate with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
  • Utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.
  • Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.
