This position involves organizing work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, arranging reports for delivery, and keeping work surfaces clean and orderly. The role requires maintaining quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and advanced troubleshooting, calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures, and monitoring quality control measures and protocols. Additionally, the individual will serve as a technical resource by participating in staff training, answering questions from other professionals, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Confidentiality is crucial, as the individual must maintain patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential. The role also involves adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements to serve and protect the hospital community. The individual will enhance laboratory services and the hospital's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. The position requires providing quality and timely results in multiple areas of the lab including Blood Bank, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Immunology.
