Job Summary: As a Medical Technologist (MT) at Cottage Hospital, you will perform a variety of complex tests in the areas of blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, urinalysis, and phlebotomy. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety by verifying test results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids (blood, urine, spinal fluid) to identify normal and abnormal components.
- Verify and analyze lab findings, ensuring accuracy in results.
- Perform routine and high-complexity testing, and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers and analyzers.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collect and study blood samples using microscopic techniques.
- Label and handle specimens accurately, ensuring proper patient identification.
- Communicate critical lab values to physicians and nursing staff.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and assist with inspections.
- Support fellow team members in ensuring efficient lab operations.
