This position involves performing tests and procedures in assigned sections of the laboratory, requiring independent judgment and responsibility with minimal supervision. The role includes performing qualitative and quantitative tests, identifying problems that may affect test performance, and troubleshooting issues. Responsibilities also include performing phlebotomy and assisting in specimen receiving as assigned. The position requires analyzing quality control data, maintaining accurate documentation, and operating laboratory information systems and related software.   • Perform complex laboratory procedures for diagnosis and treatment of disease across all patient age groups.
  • Recognize deviations from expected results and analyze problems using scientific principles.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation per departmental policies.
  • Analyze quality control data and take appropriate actions to maintain test accuracy.
  • Operate laboratory information systems and instrument-related software.
  • Perform new instrument and testing method implementation and training.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
  • Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.
  • Assist with processing laboratory samples and maintaining supply inventory.
  • Train and orient new staff and students.
  • Sign off on moderate/high complexity competencies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • If the degree is not in the specified fields, it must include 24 semester hours of science courses.
  • At least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty for high complexity testing.
  • Clinical laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and evaluate results.
  • Ability to identify changes in circumstances or events.
  • Experience with data entry and processing using computers.
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize work.
  • Experience in maintaining constructive working relationships.
  • Ability to monitor and control resources.
