As a Medical Technologist, you will perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels. Using your understanding of the theories and technical, procedural and problem-solving aspects of Laboratory Science, you will aid in the search to determine the best mode of care for patients. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to expand your knowledge through extensive hands-on experience with some of the best researchers and specialists. We will hire our clinical laboratory testing personnel in three different job titles, based on educational background: Medical Technologist Med Lab Technician Lab Technician A caregiver in this position works nights from 8:00PM – 6:30AM, including every other weekend and 2 holidays per year.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology or equivalent
  • Licensed in the State of Florida at the technologist levels
  • One or more of Microbiology, Immunohematology or other licenses

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Medical Technology
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
  • One year of clinical experience
  • Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation licenses

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality laboratory testing and result reporting.
  • Ensure that results are reported in compliance with the goals and standards of the department, hospital and applicable accrediting organizations (AHCA, CLIA, COLA, and JCAHO).
  • Accurately identify each patient specimen and testing orders and ensure results are accurate and reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensure specimen integrity and identification and resolve specimens not meeting testing criteria.
  • Identify and resolve pending specimen results from laboratory information system for assigned departments.
  • Report pertinent information to the physician, patient care area or supervisor (e.g., panic values, instrument malfunctions, delay in testing, reagent or supply depletion).
  • Note “dates opened” and “expiration dates” and use reagents and controls only to their expiration dates.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization and stock of work area.
  • Follow troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur with instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure instrument operation and results are reliable and perform maintenance checks, startups, and shutdowns as assigned or required.
  • Answer the telephone, greet customers and provide consult and technical support to the physicians, phlebotomists and nursing staff.
  • Follow quality control policy and ensure controls are within acceptable limits before patient results are reported.
  • Document quality control and out of range results in an appropriate manner.
