Performs a full range of clinical laboratory tests (in such areas as hematology, chemistry, immunology, blood bank, microbiology and coagulation). Will have diverse responsibilities in areas of analysis and clinical decision making, information management, regulatory compliance, education and quality assurance/ performance improvement. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) to perform routine and complex laboratory tests in various areas including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking. This role ensures accurate test results to support clinical decisions and enhance patient care.

  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instrumentation
  • Participates in inventory control to ensure appropriate levels of supplies within the department. Recognizes day-to-day inventory needs and communicates appropriately
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established protocol and seek assistance when necessary
  • Performs all work in accordance with the requirements of regulatory agencies, such as CLIA, JCAHO, AABB, and other agencies based on local and national regulatory requirements
  • Utilizes all supplies and equipment in an appropriate and cost-effective, efficient manner
  • Accurately performs tests on patient and proficiency specimens
  • Perform clinical laboratory tests following established procedures and policies.
  • Analyze body fluids, tissues, and other specimens using microscopes or automated equipment.
  • Ensure proper sample collection, labeling, and processing.
  • Maintain accurate records and enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate test results and any critical findings promptly to healthcare providers.
  • Assist with training new staff or students as needed (especially for MTs).
  • MLT: Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent).
  • MT: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).
  • Both: Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and instrumentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for lab work.
  • May require lifting specimens or supplies up to 25 lbs.
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
