About The Position
An acute care hospital in Bradenton, Florida is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist Lead to provide advanced technical expertise and shift-level leadership within a high-volume clinical laboratory. This role functions as the senior laboratory resource during assigned evening or night shifts and serves as the primary laboratory point of contact for trauma and critical care teams, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant testing across multiple lab disciplines.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Science or related field
- Active Florida Medical Technologist license
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Demonstrated competency across at least five laboratory areas
- Technical expertise in Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, and Hematology
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field
- Prior lead or senior technologist experience
- Experience supporting trauma or high-acuity clinical environments
Responsibilities
- Perform STAT and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical disciplines
- Apply advanced laboratory theory and independent judgment to ensure accuracy and turnaround time
- Maintain regulatory competency and scheduled coverage in Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, and Hematology
- Serve as the primary laboratory contact for the trauma team during assigned shifts
- Ensure adherence to departmental procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support specimen collection, processing, referral testing, and other non-technical laboratory functions as needed
- Assist leadership in meeting departmental goals related to quality, service, compliance, patient safety, and financial performance
- Promote effective collaboration across departments and support a healthy, professional work environment
