About The Position

This full-time Medical Technologist II position is located in the Levine Cancer Transplant & Cell Therapy Lab at Carolinas Medical Center - LC: Lab: Cell Processing: Morehead. The role involves demonstrating proficiency in testing procedures, adhering to quality assurance guidelines, and documenting corrective actions. The technologist will collaborate internally as an expert resource for problem-solving, implement solutions to improve test systems, and mentor others. Active participation in laboratory accreditation activities, including internal audits and external inspections, is required. Maintaining clear, real-time communication with co-leadership regarding departmental operations is essential. The position also involves participating as a laboratory instructor, guest lecturer, or in-service educator, and engaging in a competency assessment program based on proven experience. The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, from 7:30am-6:00pm, rotating between Monday-Thursday and Tuesday-Friday. Experience in cellular therapy cryopreservation, flow cytometry, or blood bank is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) or equivalent required
  • Three years completed as a Medical Technologist II
  • Completion of all requirements specified under MT/MLS III Advancement Program with annual verification of these requirements

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event.
  • Conducts internal collaboration through teams as an expert resource in problem solving and implements solutions that improve test systems, teaching and mentoring others during the process.
  • Actively participates in laboratory accreditation activities, including internal audits and outbound accreditation inspections.
  • Maintains clear, real time communications shift-to-shift with co-leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which affect the operation of the department.
  • Participates as a laboratory instructor, guest lecturer or in-service educator.
  • Participates in competency assessment program based on proven experience.
