About The Position

Performs a broad range of tests involving Biochemical Genetics utilizing various equipment and quality control parameters. Monitors and maintains lab equipment and supplies; and other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge within the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Urinalysis and Microbiology. Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge of all laboratory equipment. Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment problems/issues and notifies supervisor as needed. Analyzes specimens according to established laboratory SOP’s. Ensures all relevant SOPs are followed and reviewed Accurately records results manually and/or electronically in the LIS system. Ensures CAP, UMPA, and GLP (when appropriate) guidelines are followed during laboratory testing. Adheres to protocols for quality control and follows the Laboratory Quality Plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences or related field required or to be completed within 90 days of the application date
  • Successful completion of NACCLS accredited clinical rotation or at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in an accredited hospital or reference laboratory setting.
  • Must be eligible for certification by a nationally recognized program, e.g. ASCP or equivalent.
  • Must be certified within 12 months of employment.

  • ASCP preferred.
