About The Position

The Medical Technologist I position at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine involves performing comprehensive parasitology diagnostics in the Parasitology laboratory. This role supports both routine and molecular testing methods, adhering to AAVLD standards and organizational policies. The position also provides backup support to the Molecular Diagnostics team during disease outbreaks and staffing shortages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, veterinary technology, or a related biological science with up to two years of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing classic parasitology methods.
  • Experience with conventional and real-time PCR methods.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of veterinary testing for the diagnosis of parasitic diseases.
  • Experience performing real-time PCR, sequencing and recombinant techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine parasitology testing.
  • Maintain compliance with all related quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve test, process, and supply issues.
  • Utilize a wide range of software applications and instrumentation.
  • Perform routine molecular testing methods.
