About The Position

The Medical Technologist – Generalist performs routine and complex laboratory testing to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. Primary responsibilities include: Performing routine and specialized laboratory tests used in diagnosing and treating disease Utilizing laboratory equipment, diagnostic instruments, and computer systems accurately and efficiently Evaluating and reporting patient results using independent judgment within established testing protocols Performing quality control procedures to maintain test accuracy and regulatory compliance Contributing to laboratory upkeep, including equipment maintenance and supply management Assisting with the development and implementation of new testing procedures and instrumentation Taking responsibility for key laboratory functions such as: Performance improvement Safety and regulatory compliance Quality control programs Administrative or operational workflows Staff development or competency programs Laboratory information/computer systems Training new employees and students in laboratory theory, procedures, and operations Serving as a technical resource for less experienced staff Performing other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations

Requirements

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science
  • 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in moderate and high complexity testing

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine and specialized laboratory tests used in diagnosing and treating disease
  • Utilizing laboratory equipment, diagnostic instruments, and computer systems accurately and efficiently
  • Evaluating and reporting patient results using independent judgment within established testing protocols
  • Performing quality control procedures to maintain test accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Contributing to laboratory upkeep, including equipment maintenance and supply management
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of new testing procedures and instrumentation
  • Taking responsibility for key laboratory functions such as: Performance improvement, Safety and regulatory compliance, Quality control programs, Administrative or operational workflows, Staff development or competency programs, Laboratory information/computer systems
  • Training new employees and students in laboratory theory, procedures, and operations
  • Serving as a technical resource for less experienced staff
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations
