Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Assistance Offered! Status: Full-Time Schedule: 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm-11:00pm and rotating weekends. Shift Differential: Additional pay for 2nd shift and weekend shifts. General Purpose of Job: The registered Medical Technologist Staff under supervision of Medical Director, Administrative Director, Manager, Lead and Senior is capable of performing all of the tests in a single area or majority of procedures in all areas, as defined by HCFA, of the clinical laboratory with appropriate sectional training. Performs highly complex procedures. Performs manual and automated laboratory assays requiring independent judgment. Reports results to nurses and physicians relating the results to normal range for age and recognizing and reporting critical values. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for specific role during various internal and external CODE and disaster occurrences. Responsible for insuring compliance of Infection control techniques within the Laboratory. Responsible for insuring compliance of Safety techniques within the Laboratory. Responsible for insuring proper security procedures when entering the building and demonstrating appropriate use of ID badge. Responsible for insuring proper use of the Pneumatic Tube System. Responsible for compliance of IOP/CQI issues. Responsible for insuring proper compliance with IOG. Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies, reagents and request replacements within the established time policies. Assures that supplies are restocked for all three shifts. Confers with physicians and/or nurses on laboratory findings, timing and availability of test results or procedures. Notifies appropriate upper staff immediately if laboratory and hospital policies and procedures are violated. Represents the laboratory section technically to assigned committees physicians, nursing staff, support staff and patients. Performs duties and responsibilities of medical laboratory technician. Review and acknowledgment of procedure manuals according to NCCLS guidelines. Communicates appropriately with coworkers, hospital personnel, physicians and physician offices. Evaluates and validates new reagents, equipment and procedures according to laboratory policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines. Maintains knowledge of new technology and procedures and makes recommendations when appropriate. Responsible for specimen identification and integrity. Responsible for operation of equipment including maintenance and quality control. Complies with established safety policies and protective attire. Must promote team leadership and be a team player. Must be familiar with performance and interpretation of laboratory procedures associated with pediatric hospital with most patients below the age of 18 years. Provides clinical supervision/guidance, under the supervision of the Lead Manager and Senior Technologists, to peers , Phlebotomists and Student Affiliates. Performs other duties as assigned. HTL(ASCP) -Perform tissue processing, embedding (orient specimen in paraffin block), cutting thin sections of tissue, routine H&E staining and mounting on slides for interpretation by a pathologist. Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) from a four-year College or University required.
One year formal university/hospital based accredited course work in Medical Technology beyond a Bachelor's Degree (Clinical Internship).
MT (ASCP) Within 1 year from date of hire. The failure to obtain certification within one year time period will result in termination of technologist lacking certification.
