As a Medical Technologist at Akron General's Stow Health and Wellness Center, you will gather and provide essential laboratory information for diagnosis and treatment. In this facility, you will support the Emergency Department, Oncology and outpatient STAT Testing. You may also frequently float between the Stow and Bath locations as needed. Your team will encourage and support you as you build your skills, gain experience and find your place within the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology OR meet the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or eligible from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels.
• Correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathological states.
• Determine the validity of test results and the need for additional tests.
• Communicate test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements and other pertinent information.
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Maintain instruments, equipment and clear and legible records.
• Perform proficiency testing.
• Participate in continuing education, professional development and annual competency assessments.
