About The Position

The Medical Technologist is responsible for the collection and testing of specimens using established and approved procedures. This role involves communicating test results to laboratory personnel and patient care units in a prompt and professional manner. The technologist contributes to the overall efficiency of the laboratory by answering phones, assisting with paperwork, and supporting other staff as needed. They are responsible for reviewing all lab work within 24 hours and assisting staff with quality control, quality assurance, and instrument troubleshooting. The position requires independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision, and all work must be performed ethically and legally, following organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory science.
• Current MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP) CM, or MT (AMT) certification in good standing.
• Minimum of one-year training and/or experience in a high complexity lab preferred.
• Must meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor and Testing Personnel.

Responsibilities

• Collect and test specimens using established procedures.
• Communicate test results to laboratory personnel and patient care units.
• Assist with the completion of necessary paperwork and support other staff.
• Review all lab work within 24 hours.
• Maintain the day-to-day operation of the quality control program.
• Ensure accurate data entry in computer systems.
• Maintain inventory of supplies used in the laboratory.
• Document and correct laboratory errors.
• Lead training and orientation of staff.
• Participate in department meetings and committee activities.
