About The Position

The Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute medical conditions requiring cardiac monitoring. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The nurse monitors patients with complex medical conditions such as respiratory failure, cardiac disorders, and infections, while utilizing telemetry monitoring to identify and manage cardiac dysrhythmias. The MS/Tele RN collaborates closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Strong skills in phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion
  • Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing acute medical conditions in a hospital environment.
  • Strong communication and clinical assessment skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic medical record systems , preferably Epic.
  • Previous experience working in medical-surgical or telemetry units
  • Familiarity with advanced respiratory support equipment and cardiac monitoring systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to individuals requiring medical-surgical and telemetry monitoring
  • Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms and report abnormalities.
  • Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion , which are mandatory competencies for this role.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs and clinical status.
  • Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, and respiratory interventions
  • Assist in managing patients with complex medical conditions including acute respiratory failure, congestive heart failure (CHF), COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, and sepsis
  • Provide care for patients with specialized equipment including BIPAP, CPAP, ventilators, tracheostomy tubes, and chest tubes
  • Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Respond to patient emergencies and participate in Rapid Response Team activations when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, isolation precautions, and hospital safety standards.
