About The Position

The MST Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the electronic instrument tracking system (EITS). The MST Coordinator also assists and supports the SPS department in establishing and maintaining SPS daily operations: planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating all aspects of the SPS service. The MST Coordinator is responsible for: interacting with individuals of varying backgrounds to assess the needs of the department; initiating and leading interdisciplinary groups in carrying out sterile processing functions, including leading individuals, managing priorities, and assigning work; instruct staff on the correct procedures and protocols for completing assignments within the electronic instrument tracking system; interpreting and applying sterile processing/infection prevention regulations and policies; evaluating new products and equipment; demonstrating skill in communicating with staff to ensure compliance with written directives, rules, and regulations; identifying developmental and training needs, and establishing guidelines and performance expectations of employees in regards to the EITS; providing informal feedback and performance evaluation in regards to the EITS, and communicating operational needs to employee's direct Supervisor based upon findings; maintaining the EITS to provide patient care in a safe and effective manner within the medical facility, VISN 20, and national Office of Sterile Processing; advising the SPS Leadership of problems in the organization's activities; orienting new employees to the EITS, validating competencies; identifying equipment requirements, and recommending methods to improve the quality and productivity of the service.
