Help hospitals protect patients — one sterilizer at a time At STERIS, we partner with healthcare teams to keep critical sterilization equipment performing at its best. As a field-based technician, you’ll deliver on-site chamber cleaning and light maintenance for large hospital sterilizers, serving as a trusted advisor to customers in demanding clinical environments. You’ll collaborate with Field Service partners and our contract administration team to ensure seamless service and lasting confidence. What you’ll do Own customer satisfaction as the first point of contact—communicate proactively, address concerns, and close the loop quickly. Discuss preventive cleaning needs and logistics; set expectations on arrival, service progress, completion, and next steps while building rapport with key decision makers. Carry out sterilizer chamber cleaning: replace chemicals, fine-tune chemical levels, monitor process parameters and pressures, maintain/repair chamber cleaning equipment, and manage chemical handling, transport, and disposal safely. Plan efficient routes with the Scheduling Team, your Supervisor, and the Customer; meet coverage and service standards across the territory. Triage equipment and system component issues; consult the appropriate contact for escalation and repair support. Complete accurate documentation and reporting using a company-issued smartphone, laptop, and software. Maintain responsibility for your company vehicle, tools, supplies, and parts inventory; perform routine upkeep and escalate issues to ensure safe, effective operation. Location, travel, and schedule Based in: Sioux Falls, South Dakota Territory: South Dakota and North Dakota Travel: Approximately 50% overall, including about 50% overnight travel. Most travel is in your company van (kept at home) within a few hours’ drive; you’ll also occasionally fly to assist other territories. Hours: Full-time with variable shifts (morning, afternoon, night) and some weekend days. Flexibility is essential to meet customer needs. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 3 years of overall work experience, including at least 1 year in a technical or service-related area such as sterile processing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, or automotive. An associate degree, relevant certifications, or military experience may count toward the experience requirement.
