About The Position

Provides support to carry out the duties of the Medical Staff Services Department. Provides initial, reappointment, and updating privileging functions; Provides support and documentation of Medical Staff Services activities, enabling the Medical Staff to fulfill their duties and obligations in accordance with Bylaws/Policies/Procedures Acts independently to review and assess provider initial and reappointment applications for completion and to identify privileging concerns Participates in a team approach to ensure timely processing of privileging actions Supports Medical Staff through assisting with updating policies and keeping policy manual current. Maintains medical staff data files in compliance with the Joint Commission standards. Utilizes credentialing/privileging software and ancillary software to ensure processes are electronic to its fullest capability Coordinates all aspects of privileging, including appointment and reappointment for Medical Staff and Advanced Clinical Providers. Collaborates with CCVS for completeness of credential files. Queries the National Practitioner Data Bank and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Medical Staff Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Three years experience in an in an office setting, preferably within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft package and data base management.
  • Ability to problem solve and work under pressure required.
  • Highly organized and able to simultaneously manage numerous tasks/projects within established timeframes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to be flexible.
  • Good interpersonal communication, both verbal and written.
  • AHA BLS- HCP required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work with a Medical Staff Services or credentialing preferred.
  • CPCS certification preferred.
