The Ultrasonographer is responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound and the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures requiring a level of independent judgment, making ability, ingenuity, and initiative, not requiring direct supervision. The Ultrasound department is multi-disciplinary; including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts vascular studies, and echocardiography. If the incumbent is not qualified in echocardiography or vascular examinations, training in these modalities is expected to be completed within one year of the date of hire. The Ultrasonographer contributes to teaching and inservices, strives to develop and enhance Ultrasound skills, shares call responsibilities, performs administrative duties, and ensures the efficient operation of the department. In the absence of an immediate supervisor, the Ultrasonographer may assume a leadership role in the department. The employee strives to fulfill the mission statement of the hospital.
