About The Position

The Emergency Department Social Worker is experienced in rapid assessment, developing crisis management plans and aids physically ill patients and their families. The Social Worker assists in resolving the social and psychological problems related to the illness. The Social worker sensitizes other health care providers about the social and psychological aspects of illness. The Social Worker provides clinical coordination and therapeutic interventions through assessment, referral and interdisciplinary planning for high-risk populations with particular focus on frequent utilizers of the healthcare system. The Social Worker will link patients and families to systems that provide resources, services and opportunities to achieve and maintain maximum functioning. The Social Worker provides support to patients and families regarding adjustments to disease process and illnesses. The Social Worker also expedites linking patients with systems in the community to provide them with resources, services and opportunities to achieve and maintain maximum functioning, and conduct screenings for CBT resource linkage.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a medical or healthcare setting is required.
  • State of Florida Licensure is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Basic computer, analytical, grammar, and spelling skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize responsibilities is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Acute care hospital experience, preferably with children and families.
  • 2 or more years of post-Masters Degree work experience.

Responsibilities
