About The Position

The Medical Simulation Technician’s primary role is the implementation and delivery of healthcare simulation activities utilizing both advanced robotic simulators and highly trained standardized patient actors through the application of simulation technologies such as computers, audiovisual equipment, or other networking technologies. They will proactively set up, help facilitate, and break down educational settings for scenarios involving anatomy and physiology, adult health, maternal and newborn care, pediatrics, mental health, or interprofessional education learning simulations and experiential activities in support of CHHS faculty or external partners. The Medical Simulation Technician is expected to be technologically fluent in the set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of the Sim Center’s advanced robotic manikins, audiovisual and XR technologies (e.g., Anatomage Tables), and medical equipment and devices used in simulations. In collaboration with faculty, sim staff, and standardized patients (SPs), the technician ensures simulations run smoothly and meet learning objectives.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in health sciences, engineering, or information technology.
  • Work experience in a healthcare, technology, or educational support setting.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and audiovisual equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in health sciences, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting simulation activities or working with standardized patient actors.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist® (CHSOS®) certification.
  • Familiarity with inventory management.
  • Experience teaching or supporting pre-professional or professional learners.
  • Theatre, performance, or production experience related to live or educational settings.
